I like the casual mention of facts, brand names, etc., surrounding the funeral home business. I just spent some time on some of them, and I could seriously park there. Of course as a nurse, the whole embalming mortuary thing is waaay too interesting to me!

And it reminds me of a friend I knew in high school/college: She married a guy that she met at junior high band camp; they wrote and then lost touch with moves but reconnected when he was the mortician that prepared her mom's body when she died of cancer!

He had quite a a funny sense of humor...they were in a small town and they'd drive around in the hearse and he'd pull up to the drive-thru and order 3 Cokes, just to see the worker's expression!!Mocha with Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16387717261200678465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13498449.post-60799155001528748432008-02-05T22:34:00.000-05:002008-02-05T22:34:00.000-05:00Really? Who knew?

My lip is already pooching out, 'cause I want to read more!

We just got back from our Colorado caucas for Super Tuesday. We voted for Huckabee. Of course, voting here in the CO primary is much different than Texas. I guess that's what makes our country so unique!

BTW, the very best and funniest funeral scene we saw lately was in Monk, where he drops his keys from the balcony and they land in the coffin. So he gets a string and tries to fish for them. Sure enough, the string attaches to the man's arm...and you can guess the rest.
Praying for you!
hollyHollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00794673914973256109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13498449.post-56860681053894034892008-02-05T22:00:00.000-05:002008-02-05T22:00:00.000-05:00Thanks for the plug, Linda! And I'm so glad you enjoyed THE NOVELIST.

I had to go back and check WHEN I was writing the second Fairlawn book, and I discovered sample bits posted in March and April 2007. Maybe some in May, too, but after that we had definitely moved into THE FACE. So if you want to peruse the archives, it's all there. :-)

AngieAngelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15745389922246602752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13498449.post-3385410044300348252008-02-05T21:12:00.000-05:002008-02-05T21:12:00.000-05:00Love it, love it!! Can't wait for #2, and I love knowing #3 is in the works!!

And since I'm new to your blog in the last month, is a "taste test" of book 2 in the archives somewhere?

I finished The Novelist tonight and all I can say is WOW. That was beyond good.

And how do you come up with such clever things like those acronyms for DEAD (and the varying word forms)??! Those were pure genius!

Oh you have such a gift! And what a blessing and pleasure it is for me to be able to tell the author how much I enjoyed your book.

WRITE ON!!!

BTW, I posted about your blog on mine today...I think this is one of the "best kept secrets" of the blog world! I know one commenter told me she came over and is looking over the books. :-)Mocha with Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16387717261200678465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13498449.post-61298135262809709382008-02-05T19:51:00.000-05:002008-02-05T19:51:00.000-05:00More, more, more!!!!More, more, more!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
