Thought for the day, from Max Lucado:
It’s easier to talk about a person than to help a person. It’s easier to debate homosexuality than to be a friend to a gay person. It’s easier to discuss divorce than to help the divorced. It’s easier to argue abortion than to support an orphanage. It’s easier to complain about the welfare system than to help the poor.
It’s easier to label than to love.
Wow. Isn't that convicting? I love that!
We have a leftover question from the discussion of The Justice. Pam wrote: I read this book a long time ago and LOVED it, but was quite stunned at the ending. I don't want to give it away here, but would love to know your thoughts on how you came to end it that way. You can tell how it impacted me by how this many years later I still remember it even though a lot of the details others have brought up have escaped me.
To be honest, I distinctly remember working through three drafts of the manuscript without finding an ending. Then one morning I was on the treadmill and told the Lord that I really needed an ending, today, because I had to get the book handed in.
Originally I thought that Daryn should develop breast cancer . . . sort of a poetic justice. Then I realized that wouldn't work for a couple of reasons. First, it would be expected, and that goes against everything I stand for.(VBG) Second, realistically, she was only 50 years old, and breast cancer usually shows up later than that. She still might get breast cancer, but it wasn't likely she'd get it before the end of the book.
So I went to the chiropractor, and the ending came to me as I sat in the waiting room. (I jotted it all down in the flyleaf of the book I had with me.) Somehow all the threads just came together, and I saw what needed to be done.
And so it was.
On to the tidbit for today--You'll need $30,000 per couple per week to visit this place, but it sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
Check out http://www.poseidonresorts.com/poseidon_main.html. (HT to Kelli Standish for pointing this place out!)
For your thirty grand, you get five nights on dry land, in an exclusive Fijian resort, and two nights in a pod . . . underwater. The pods, in case your wondering, can be snapped off and floated to safety in case of . . . leaks, I suppose.
Kelli Standish sent me to this website, and she's abrim with ideas about how to use it in a story. You could have a hero who won a weekend at this place, so he's there with all these rich and famous celebrities (probably on opening weekend), and terrorists or something take over and hold the place hostage. Or they tie the thing to a sub and haul it away!
I can see sharks . . . and an earthquake . . . a nuclear bomb . . . and of course, one of the celebs is the president's daughter or some other government official.
Anyway, this site is worth a gander just for the dreamin' . . .

that resort looks like something out of a james bond movie. knowing my luck if i ever went, my pod would have a hole or something.
