On a more sobering note--yesterday I received a call from my dear friend Nancy Rue, who has two puppy labs, one chocolate and one golden. Captain and Sully. Nancy and her husband Jim loved those puppies, and, well, you know how we dog people feel about our dogs.
While the dogs were out for a walk with Jim on Sunday, a neighbor shot and killed Captain and Sully.
Nancy and Jim are grieving . . . and experiencing dozens of other emotions as well. If God cares about sparrows, he certainly cares about our dogs, so please remember this family in your prayers.

How awful to live to see that happen.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I'm sure there is some sort of law against that and punishment!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw Nancy's blog yesterday, I knew you would be heartbroken as well. Unbelievable how cruel and heartless some folks can be.
ReplyDeletethey did this on purpose?!!!! That makes me very sad and I will be praying for them.
ReplyDeleteI am stunned and I am so sorry for their loss. I know their "just" dogs, but I love my dogs and I know they loved theirs too. Unbelievable. We should pray for the person who did this, they must be very angry and not have much joy in life.
ReplyDeletesorry for the mis-spelled word their, it should be they're "just" dogs...anyway.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a neighbor threaten to do the same, but it's so sad to hear. We have two black labs that don't feel like 15 acres is enough room, so we have to chain them.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, however, I awoke to a phone call saying one of them was in the ditch by the highway. By the time I got off our ice-covered hill, the dog was doing just fine and only had a bloody chin to show for her escape.
Her--need I say smarter--sister was asleep in the garage.
