What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Midland "You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. | |

I posted this some time ago (a long time ago!), but I find it fascinating, so I took the test again. I really don't have an accent--probably because Florida is a mixture of all the states (nearly all of my neighbors are from Somewhere Else.)
What accent do you have?

Inland North! Until I moved to San Antonio, I lived in New York/Long Island, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, New York City, Santa Barbara again, Boston Burbs, Santa Barbara for the third time. Where on earth and on this continent did I pick up an Inland North accent??? I began to wonder about it's veracity when they didn't ask me how I pronounce "aunt". =) Clyde
I took this again because the results crack me up so much. It says "North Central" but the long description ends with this:
Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.
Hee. why yes, I do get taken for a Canuck.
Interesting. The results of the test say that I have the accent of "The Inland North." At the end it said that I probably call soft drinks "pop."
NO WAY!! I am from North Carolina and, though I usually have no accent at all, when I am tired my Southern accent is so thick you can cut it with a knife! And I NEVER say "pop" even though most everyone here in Indy say that; I say, and will continue to say, "soda."
To be told I have the accent of the Inland North is almost insulting!
Mine was Midland with the west being a close second.
People from Pennsylvania do have an accent, though. And so do some from Missouri.
I was born in Michigan, but have lived in southern California since I was a baby. I am frequently asked where in the South I am from and on a recent visit to Alabama, people mentioned that I was picking up the accent quite nicely.
Some people say my mother has a southern accent, too, but I cannot hear it in her voice.
