A Fine Day at the SPCA

When I got up this morning, I saw that NINE dogs at the SPCA needed photos, so I packed up and off I went.  And I had a nice surprise--my hubby showed up around noon, and he saw what I've been doing all these mornings.  He even helped a bit.  And he learned two things--one, while he enjoys helping me (at least I think he enjoyed it), he could never do it himself because he has a big heart and would want to take all of them home.  I have a big heart, too, but I also have a pragmatic streak that he seems to lack.  LOL.

The other reason he could never do it is that he doesn't have as much patience as I do.  Sometimes, with the active dogs, I just sit and let them run and sniff and explore and jump and ignore me until they have all of that out of their system. But my sweet hubby has a case of ADD, so sitting and waiting doesn't jive with him.  He wanted to put the dogs up there, snap their pictures, and move on to the next one, but it doesn't really work like that.

So I ended up snapping eight dogs, one of which was getting adopted pretty much as I was packing up all my gear.  :-)  Loved that.  And I got to snap PUPPIES today, which is always fun.  They're not always terribly obedient, they don't know their names, and they don't know how to sit on command, but sometimes they're just fun to follow around with a camera.

So here are some of my pictures for today, April 21.  What a great way to spend my day off.

Oh my gosh! I love your ASPCA pictures, but these are some of my favorites! There are a couple here I would love to take home. However, Wilson, my sweet kitty, won't let me have pets :0)

I'm learning a lot--through experience, and through reading lots of photography books. Mostly I'm learning how to get shots of dogs who won't sit still! :-0
